About FM200 (HFC-227ea)
The chemical name of FM200 is Heptafluoropropane. It is also commonly known as HFC-227ea. It is a clean agent fire suppression gas used in fire suppression systems which is colorless, clear liquid and discharged as a gaseous vapor. When released, the gas spreads rapidly and extinguishes fire within seconds, making it ideal for protection of sensitive equipment.
How does FM200 work?
FM200 extinguishes fire by absorbing heat from the flame. It stops the fire rapidly by disrupting chemical chain reactions. Upon detecting fire, the system discharges the agent, typically covering the hazard within seconds, which is crucial for preventing significant damage to high-value assets.
As the agent is super pressurized with Nitrogen, it is released in gaseous form and does not cause corrosion, short circuits or water damage making it suitable for electronics and critical panels or rooms.
